Richard M. Landau
For over 25 years Richard M. Landau has been a leader in the development and production of interfaith and faith–based TV programming. He is currently Senior Executive Producer with CTS-TV where he is responsible for 14 daily and weekly programs that reflect the diversity of Canada. He is also host of Faith Journal, a
weekly faith and public affairs program and Behind the Story. He has won over 20 international awards for his TV productions. He is author of the ebook What the World Needs to Know about Interfaith Dialogue. He has been consulted on interfaith relations by both the governments of the United Kingdom and the White House Office of Community- and Faith-Based Initiatives.
Jesse Hanspal
Jasbir (Jesse) Hanspal is a Director of Development Technology in a large Canadian Financial services group. His primary interest is in improving education. He has served as the chair of advisory committees on Computer Studies at Seneca College and the York Technology Association, for several years. He has been a key note speaker at conferences in North America, Europe and Asia. He was an invited member of the IBM Advisory committee for 5 years, He is the general secretary of a charitable trust, which is engaged in improving the educational, healthcare and social conditions of the villages located on the Indo-Pakistani border, near Amritsar. He contributed to the making of The City of Amritsar documentary.
Narinder Channa
Narinder Channa started in media in 1981 helping produce the Visions of Punjab TV show. He opened his own production house PNR in 1988, providing production and post productionfacilities to the film industry. He has been a technical producer for Kalcine Enterprises four videos. The Wedding Ceremonies, The Khalsa and The Sikh Scriptures and A Punjabi Village. Through his production house Narinder has also produced a range of TV programs and documentaries that includes: Dhur ki Bani for Vision TV, Century of Sikhs in Canada, The Hajj and many others.
Iqbal Mahal
Iqbal Mahal has been a personality on Toronto’s media scene for the last 30 years. He launched his first Punjabi radio show in 1976.. He was the pioneer to produce Indian music, he has produced 36 audio discs, cassettes and videos on various Punjabi artists. He was a co-producer for Visions of Punjab with Joginder Kalsi when they launched that first-ever Punjabi TV program in Toronto in 1981. He is still running a TV show by the same name on Vision TV. He has been instrumental in promoting newcomer Punjabi artists on stage shows. Some of these are: Jagjit and Chitra Singh, Gurdass Maan, Surinder Kaur and many more artists. He is also a talented writer he writes poetry and prose, he has written a book in 1998 about famous Indo/Pak singers called “Suran de Saudagar”
Shakil Nundloll
Shakil is a soft-spoken, extremely talented designer of graphics, artwork and post production. Shakil’s company name PixelGuru is emblematic of his expertise and skill in the digital media realm. If it has to do with pixels - moving or static -Shakil’s touch rarely goes unnoticed. Shakil will be play an important role not only in the online edit of The Selfless Life but also in producing the graphics and animated sequences for it. Apart from his usual duties as online editor he is technical producer of A Selfless Life (Biography of Bhagat Puran Singh).He is responsible for the look and tone of the production. He has also been the online editor for Guru Granth Sahib (The Sikh Scriptures), A Punjabi Village, and The City of Amritsar. Shakil’s work in television production, animation, composited effects and editing have won him accolades from producers of television commercials, documentaries and educational programming.
Jitu Prakash
Jitu Prakash is a man who is known for his healing power: his flute He is with no doubt, one of the best Indian flute players in Ontario. His flute just adds a new color to any mehfil (concert). He has learned to play the flute from various teachers. This also includes the greatest flute player of our time, Ustad Hariparsad Churasia. He has played for various music directors in Bollywood as well. He is also a visual artist and likes to paint and draw.
Javed Mogul
Born in Lahore Pakistan in a Mughal Family who migrated from Logharh Amritsar during partition of India. Javed graduated with degrees in Electronic Engineering, Audio Engineering, computer science, Music and Philosophy from Pakistan and Canada.Studied the Western Music Theory and Orchestration from York University in 1979 which was sponsored by Ahead National Music Corporation and Arc Sound Canada Ltd. He has conducted lectures world wide on Digital Audio Technology and written numerous articles on digital technology in leading publications.He has worked with famous leading artistes from India, Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, North America and Africa to produce musical arrangements and sound recordings. He is also a musician and vocalist, he can play most of the Indian music instruments specially flute. He has been a production team member for all Kalcine films.
Parminder Singh
Parminder Singh has vast experience in the field of Radio and Television working with 680 News, OMNI TV and the Canadian Broadcast Corporation (CBC). Parminder commenced his work in this filed with 680 News Toronto’s all news station. After working with 680News Parminder got an opportunity to work with OMNI Television formerly known as CFMT (Canada’s First Multicultural Television) as reporter for Diversity Program. Parminder currently is the Co-Host of the Punjabi Language show “Chardi Kalaa”. Parminder also provides play-by-play for the NHL with the CBC for their Hockey Night In Canada Punjabi Edition. CBC airs the hockey games every Saturday night all across Canada on Rogers Channel 401, Bell Channel 249 and Shaw Cable on channel 333.
Didar S. Khokhar
Didar Singh Khokhar is new to Kalcine team, he is BA from Delhi Univeristy in English honours with immense interest in literature and researching literary works. He has been Secretary and Treasurer, Philosophy Society and Office bearer English Study Circle. He has been organizing Talk sessions andinterviews of renowned literary figures and journalists. He has arrived in Canada recently but has been taking active part in our films by input from India in each of our films. He will be participating in our future films.
Jasbir S.Bhatia
Jasbir Singh Bhatia is also new to Kalcine team. He took keen interest in our last “The City of Amritsar” production. He was enthusiast to participate in Bhagat Puran Singh film and he helped us in the script and raising funds for the film. Born in India, in December 1940, Jasbir has lived in USA for the last 30 years, now in Florida. He is an electrical power generation engineer, and works for Siemens Energy. In Florida, he has been involved with different Interfaith Organizations, Global Peace Film festivals, and volunteer organizations, working to build understanding amongst different faith and cultural traditions and world peace. He has been a member of Interfaith Council of Central Florida for several years, and now is a member of the executive committee. He is often invited to University of Central Florida, local Community Colleges and schools, churches to give an understanding about Sikhism. Currently he is serving as the President of the Sikh Society of Central Florida Executive Committee which operates the Gurdwara (Sikh Temple) in greater Orlando, Florida. He has a family with three grown up children who are professionally well settled.
Rajinder K. Bal
Rajinder Kaur Bal is a multitalented personality who contributes to the production as one of the Narrators. Born in Pakistan, she moved to India in 1947, and earned her B.A. Honours from Baring Union Christian College Batala, B.T. from Simla and a Masters degree in Political Science from Punjab University, Chandigarh. In 1963, she became a lecturer in Political.Science at Khalsa College for women in Ludhiana in 1963, she also taught at other institutions before moving to Toronto in 1972. In Toronto, she worked with Toronto Board of Education and taught Punjabi as a credit course as well ESL to adults and primary children. She retired from teaching in 2004.
Khalid Saleem
Born in Pakistan, Khalid Saleem has his own music studio in Toronto and is a friend of Jitu Praksh the famous flutist. We needed some tracks in a hurry. Khalid Saleem and Jitu Prakash were very kind to record in few days. Khalid has fair amount of knowledge of Indian Classical Music and he accompanied on keybord on some of the tracks. We welcome him to Kalcine team.
